shooting bricks
Friday, June 29th, 2007A few weeks ago I was in Chicago for jtw’s graduation (pictures forthcoming). Coincidentally, I arrived at his place the day after they finished shooting scenes on/behind his building for the new Batman movie. I didn’t get to see any filming, but did get to see the bricks they had painted for the shoot. Some of the brick-painting made sense, as shown by these before-and-after pictures.
The back of the building had at some point been painted white, so it’s understandable that they would want it to look more brick-y. But what really blew my mind was that they *also* painted the normal bricky-looking bricks of the entire side of the opposite-facing building:
Look toward the top of the picture to see what the original bricks looked like; below the line are the “improved” bricks. I also got to take home some of the flowers that they had left over from the shoot.
