I’m back from Philly — after many delays and a completely indescribable performance by a musical ensemble of costumed people driving a golf cart through the Philadelphia airport (I’m hoping plm will make his picture/video of this available online for all to enjoy). Dana spent a bunch of time on the phone with various airline people to make sure that we would be able to get from Chicago to Champaign — and was successful in getting us on the last flight of the night (thanks Dana!).

I didn’t really get to do much sightseeing, but I liked what I saw of Philadelphia, and enjoyed my fancier-than-usual hotel. Like planbreaker, I’m feeling the calf-soreness right now, but it’s not because of heels: I tried to take the stairs up or down whenever feasible to avoid the congestion of the elevators, which included some trips down from the 20-somethingth floor to the lobby. (I’m thinking maybe I should add the stair machine to my gym workouts.)

Anyway, a big thank you to everyone who sent nice emails to me wishing me well on my trip, and also to Dana and cmw for inviting me to travel with them :)
